Our journey with allergies started in 2006 when our son was diagnosed with life threatening allergies to peanuts, and tree nuts. In 2009 he developed a soy allergy. Our middle child does not have any known allergies. Our youngest has asthma, eczema and life threatening allergies to dairy, eggs, peanuts and tree nuts which were diagnosed in 2010 by the time she was a year old. The only way to avoid an allergic reaction is strict avoidance of exposure to the allergen. Our lives involve constant vigilance to protect against exposure to their allergens. This is not easy when milk , soy and eggs are in everything and “may be contained” in everything! We do what we must to keep them safe while helping our children grow up without fearing food and being able to participate in basic life activities and events.
